10/16/11 Nada Regatta West shore; headcam, sunrise, and fall foliage

Nice showing today despite WSW winds forecast at 15 or so that ended up being 5-10 tucked into the West Shore.  A Men's Four, two doubles, and a brave single did a 4.2 course.  Had a head cam on the stern of the double which shows the nice foliage and a pretty sunrise.

1 Week to Head of the Charles; No-one said it would be easy!

Tentatively planning a 730 am Race start on Sunday morning, a real-world simulation of what you may experience in a week in Boston.  Winds are forecast to be WSW at 14 knots.

Tentative race plan for all boats that are interested:

Starting line is Dave Jurreler's Dock: Boats will maintain a constant distance from the shore, 100 feet, which will provide some shelter from the west winds, though won't be a picnic.  Finish Line is at the yellow dock at the north end.

Experience; Wind, Need to navigate to maintain that same 100 feet distance from the west shore; approx 4, 500 meters, but you won't really care...

Those interested be thinking about being ready and present at Jurreler's dock at 730 am sharp...No external timer this race (wife is running the Syracuse marathon which starts at same time....)
